Paragraph Three:
Explain how you would address conflicts or concerns among Council members during the planning of the change project. Describe strategies you could use to address resistance to change.

How to Approach Each Paragraph
Paragraph One – Goal & Stakeholders
  • Start by clearly stating the overall goal of your change project (for example, reducing medication errors through BCMA implementation).

  • Explain why this goal matters for patient safety and quality improvement.

  • Identify Council members (nurses, physicians, pharmacists, IT, administrators, quality officers, etc.) as key stakeholders.

  • Briefly explain why they are stakeholders (they influence policy, workflow, patient outcomes, compliance, etc.).

Keep this paragraph focused on the big picture goal and stakeholder recognition.

Paragraph Two – Roles, Leadership & Coordination
  • Describe each member’s role in relation to the project (e.g., IT manages system setup, pharmacy ensures medication database accuracy, nurses provide frontline feedback).

  • Explain how you would lead the initiative (clear communication, structured meetings, defined timelines).

  • Discuss how you would coordinate efforts (regular updates, milestone tracking, collaborative decision-making).

  • Emphasize teamwork and how you would use each member’s expertise to strengthen implementation.

Focus on leadership, collaboration, and structured planning.

Paragraph Three – Conflict & Resistance Management
  • Acknowledge that resistance to change is normal.

  • Describe strategies such as active listening, open forums, evidence sharing, and transparency.

  • Discuss conflict resolution techniques (mediation, focusing on shared goals, compromise).

  • Explain how education, training, and demonstrating early success can reduce resistance.

  • Reinforce the importance of maintaining a patient-centered focus.
