How to Approach Each Question
Question 1: Describe the Health Policy
Go to the Congress website or a reliable government source.
Select a health policy proposed in the last 5 years (e.g., vaccination policy, opioid prevention, telehealth expansion).
Include the title of the policy, the goal of the policy, and the problem or issue it addresses.
In speaker notes or written discussion, explain why this problem is significant to public health.
Question 2: Identify the Relevant Social Determinant
Think about factors like:
Income/poverty
Education
Access to healthcare
Housing
Race/ethnicity
Explain how this factor influences the health issue addressed by the policy.
Give a real-world example if possible (e.g., low-income communities have lower vaccination rates).
Question 3: Evidence Base for the Policy
